Day 1379

Having a rare moment to actually sit and relax, I gazed around the living room and my eyes landed on Gus. He was blissfully dozing and didn’t seem to have a care in the world. Full tummy, water bowls galore, toys within inches, a warm bed and so much love! Lucky dog…

It occurred to me that I was a “ lucky dog” as well. Having all of the “things” Gus enjoys and so much more, I felt humbled. Suddenly, I realized that the word lucky did not really fit the feeling within. “Grateful” replaced “lucky” and a peace settled around me. Being grateful is so much deeper.

Gratitude can often be overlooked and ignored in our frantic lifestyles. We feel pleased, fulfilled, happy, “lucky”…,but being grateful is almost a verb. Embracing gratitude needs to find a time when your world stops spinning for a moment and allows you to focus on the many blessings surrounding you…to pause and allow your heart to envelop all the good that is in your world. Allowing yourself to acknowledge the many gifts we often take for granted is worth every minute of the time spent.

Try to take a moment or two and count those blessings. I can almost guarantee it will warm your heart! I can start with my Halo of Goldens around my feet and go from there!
