Day 1388
We spent some time with the seniors at Norbella this afternoon. It is always incredibly humbling to be in the presence of these beautiful senior souls. They have lived the largest portion of their lives and now are at a point where they are vulnerable and reliant on others. Still, their gratitude shines bright.
The were beyond grateful for our puppy visit and comments were loving and sweet. They mentioned soft fur, warm little bodies and big paws. They also reminisced about their own fur babies with love flowing from their hearts. They were so very appreciative for our visit and thanked us over and over.
These beautiful people are at a point in life where they can deeply feel appreciation. They now have the “time” and wisdom to know what really matters. Their present lives allow them the chance to feel gratitude for the little things in life.
As we walk our own pathways, we seldom take a moment to simply sit, reflect and be grateful. We are so very busy and our lives are packed with jobs, family, activities and just the opportunities afforded the young. Remembering my frantic life, I realize I seldom took the time to count the many blessings that were part of the “life blur” during that part of the journey. Having a bit more time at my age, I still do not yet embrace the perspective of our senior friends.
Their hands feel the soft fur and remember…
Their hearts open up to the moment and they remember…
Their eyes take on a far-away look as they remember…
Their joy in the moment is pure as they remember…
And…their gratitude lights up a room and everyone lucky enough to experience time with these incredible individuals are changed for the better.
Take time in the present to feel that gratitude. It’s worth inviting a thankful heart on your entire journey.
