Day 1387

People often ask if we are busy with the new puppies. The answer is that we are too tired to know! They slip into their kennel by 10, the quilts cover the crate, soft Disney piano music plays and a fan is turned on low. You can almost hear the contented sighs from their cozy den.

Before they get to that magical moment, the day goes something like this…

*Awaken about 6 a. m. by yips and little barks

*Clamber downstairs to free the caged beasties

*Feed, water, potty and snuggle all five…repeat

*Therapy Dog visits…some days multiple

*Feed, walk dogs, train pups, groom…repeat

*Settle in for the night after “Zoomies” are out

*Make sure everyone is ready for bed by 10

*Tuck them in

*Humans collapse

In other words, right now our entire focus is on the Goldens. Mac is up for sainthood with his support and we both realize this phase of life will pass. Loving all five, as we do, we know that this is their time.

There are chapters in a lifetime. Many people embrace similar ones including schooling, marriage, raising children, welcoming grandchildren and multitudes of other events. We embrace each, tuck the memories deeply within and move to the next. For now, our focus on these puppies is a gift. We will look back on these exhausting days and nights with hearts filled with love.
