Mentors shape the future. With our Golden Halo, the puppies are lucky enough to have three! Gus teaches them to be gentle, Sam offers lessons on being brave and Ranger guides them in the art of acceptance. It is incredible to watch the interactions. Charlie and Hank are in “good paws!”

The mentors in my own life have been instrumental in opening doors and modeling kindness, tenacity, compassion, empathy and a host of other qualities that have guided my journey. Watching and learning from those we admire is a free education.

I learned, early on, that not everyone who draws our attention is worth emulating. There are individuals and groups that might entice, but do not encourage growth in the right direction. The preverbal “flash in the pan” applies here. It is much more difficult “unlearn” a lesson than to learn one!

Here’s to the mentors…both two and four-legged…that guide us down the right path. They open our eyes to new dimensions and show us the way to travel the journey.
