Day 1403

Charlie and Hank bring us so much joy in our house! Even the bigger Goldens have smiles on their faces when they interact.

Once, long ago, someone told me they believed that others cannot make you happy or sad… that emotions were controlled from within. I disagreed. I have always believed that, although your emotions glow from within, it is often others who ignite that flame.

Of course, circumstances can dictate certain emotions and personal reactions come from past experiences and what we have learned from our past. However, people in my life can make me happy (or sad) by my interactions with them.

For example, a pleasant surprise, a kind word or any other positive experience which is delivered with love can make me happy. I don’t process and decide to fire up those endorphins…happiness simply fills my heart. The same can be said for the opposite emotion.

It is just as easy to fill others’ lives with joy and happiness as it is to cause strife within hearts. Perhaps we all just need puppies! They work for Gus!
