Day 1411

Last evening, we had the pleasure of dining with some of our favorite people… one of them was out sweet Asher. Prior to dinner, we had taken Asher over to a book store to pick out a few items for him to read. He chose books about paper airplanes and the space program. He also asked for a harmonica. Of course, Nanny purchased everything he was hugging close to his chest.

That harmonica came to our house the next day, where my grandson proceeded to begin to figure it out. He was mesmerized and could not put it down. Even the Goldens enjoyed his explorations into this new venture. I am still smiling!

Trying something new can be a bit daunting, but it is always engaging. From exciting forays into physical challenges (snorkeling in the ocean) to a more mundane attempt at a new craft, the heart rate seems to elevate as the new experience takes hold.

Some people are more prone to adrenaline rushes while most of us simply enjoy a new, sedate hobby. I can distinctly recall my first time holding a pair of knitting needles but also remember flying down a Lutsen Mountain bike path way faster than was safe. Both were exhilarating!

For a novice harmonica player, Asher has the world at his feet. Somehow, I believe my own “Harmonica Don” is looking down from Heaven with the biggest smile on his face! Perhaps there is a rendition of “You Are My Sunshine” down the road for our novice musician! I will be in the front row for that performance!
