Day 1412
My “Happy Place”…at The Big White House, surrounded by loved ones and Goldens. In this space, I can find moments of peace. Discovering ways to relax is something new for me, but The Goldens often make it happen. Seriously, who would not embrace moments when puppies and big dogs hem you in with the best Golden Halo ever? Not this girl!
Other times, when life starts moving at high speed, it is rejuvenating to force a “slow down” to reevaluate priorities. Choosing that “landing pad” is essential for me. My grandma’s chair, the gazebo, by the fireplace…one spot will call to me and The Goldens follow.
Once situated, I find that a few deep breaths can lead me to see things more clearly and in slower motion. Prioritizing things on the path ahead helps cleanse my mind and slows my heart rate. The Goldens help with a paw on my arm or a head on my foot. After a few minutes, I am more relaxed, clear-headed and ready to embrace the tasks ahead.
So, here is the recipe for finding a moment of peace in this fast-paced world:
1. Find your special spot to sit with blankets and coffee (pop, water…) close at hand.
2. Take a few deep breaths.
3. Prioritize what lies ahead.
4. Take a moment for gratitude (what surrounds you and what you have already accomplished).
5. Move forward once again!
Also…it doesn’t hurt to have a few dogs at your feet!
