Day 1414

At The Big White House, we are all fascinated by the Artemis III Lunar Flight. The coverage is amazing and even the Goldens are glued to the coverage on the television!

When Armstrong set foot on the moon back in 1969, I recall everyone stopping life to watch the momentous occasion. It was surreal and one of those life events everyone remembers. Few and far between, these experiences bring forth emotions that surface when the topic arises in conversation.

Today, as I volunteered at Lincoln, I found myself in my old classroom from back in 1963. Remembering the layout of the classroom back then, I can visualize the wooden loudspeaker that announced the death of President Kennedy. Our principal (Mr. Lester) calmly made the announcement that would place us in that room when it happened along with a haunting memory for life. I can still experience the feeling of disbelief and confusion as if it were yesterday. It was a life experience that will never be forgotten.

Today’s moon mission has me listening with the knowledge that this is yet another of those life experiences. The Goldens have fallen asleep, but my eyes are glued to the television. What a world we live in!!!!!!!
