Day 1462
Ranger absolutely LOVES to roll over and “dance” on the new sod. Before that, he enjoyed the same experience in the dirt! Mom is sure happier with less frequent baths, but Ranger could care less where he does the cha-cha! We love him so very much!
Leaning towards staying on the clean side myself, there have been a few times when I threw neatness to the wind and enjoyed my inner “Pigpen.” I admit that it is kind of freeing!
One time, my dear Marlene and I went on an adventure in the river. What began as a walk in the rain ended up with a swim in the Rum River. Fully clothed (shoes included), we simply walked through the mud and muck and floated downstream. It was pretty wonderful!
Yard work can throw cleanliness to the wind. Mowing, trimming, weeding and any other connection to grass and dirt can lead to one filthy worker. Although there have been many things hauled throughout the yard, my messiest was probably distributing a truckload of river rock. Shoveling it into a wheelbarrow, I would then haul it to its final destination and dump it. I was a mess, but I do love river rocks so it was a “wash!"
All five of our Goldens are not aware of any dirt or mud that clings to their beautiful fur. Consequently, when they must be bathed, they have no understanding of “Why” it is happening. I certainly get the golden retriever “side-eye” when the shampoo arrives! Suddenly, I am the bad guy!
Often, however, I just let my dogs be dogs. They run, jump and roll in places that collect the most dirt. Still, the joy they experience is worth every “puppy shower”! Ranger would agree!
