Day 1476
Hank and a Charlie experienced their first trip to the cottage this weekend. We predicted that they would love it, but they went far beyond that! Those two puppies adored every minute! They ran back-and-forth the fenced-in back yard, chased each other around the “little cabin” and chewed their favorite bones on the front porch. The new sounds and smells nearly drove them to distraction! By the time we all returned to The Big White House, they collapsed in a heap by their older brothers. I think the cottage was a big hit!
There are so many times in a person’s life when exhaustion hits because of what has been experienced. Sometimes, it may be due to a loved one’s illness when you are the care-giver. Worry can also leave you exhausted. There are also circumstances when your own health can tire you out.
Exhaustion can also come about from happy events. For example, when my twins were born, I was so tired that I would enter “the black hole” of exhaustion. It would be like a dreamless sleep…worth every minute!
I have succumbed to exhaustion more than once. Falling asleep at Disney World during a tour of the Utilidor (the underground workings of the Magic Kingdom) found me literally asleep on my feet. After a five-hour tour, I seemingly turned into a horse! Luckily, Mac nudged me awake before I tipped over. I also slept through a bus tour of Gettysburg on a high school band trip, almost fell off my computer chair late at night and don’t get me started on movie theaters!
Although I believe sleep gets in the way of living, I admit there are times when a little nap might open the door to a more wakeful life event!
Not for those puppies! They live BIG and sleep BIG! We love them so!
