Day 1475
Happy 13th Birthday to this Big Guy! We love him so! We celebrated with a special donut breakfast, a birthday cookie, a walk at the cottage and other favorite “Doggy” things. Getting back to that walk…
Sometimes, the best ideas take a surprising turn. Near our cottage, a small stream connects our lake with another. For various reasons, we keep the Goldens out of the lake, but this little creek looked so inviting! We walked gingerly towards the glowing water when “The Birthday Boy” sunk up to his knees in “muck!” Fearful of an injury, I followed him in to gently lead him towards higher ground. Yuck!!!!! Oh well, luckily we have hot water plumbed outside for just such opportunities! He now is snoozing on his favorite couch with clean paws and a belly full of yummy treats.
There have been MANY “adventures” that have not lived up to my expectations of amazing! One jumps to the forefront right away…
When my twins were young and I was a solo parent, I decided to take them to the Science Museum in St. Paul. Entering the old Dayton’s Ramp, I gave a cursory glance at the vehicle height restrictions. It only took a moment to discover the luggage rack on the van surpassed that by at least an inch! Every beam “screeched” as the top of our conversion van greeted each and every one! Finally, we appeared at the payment window in shame and disgrace! They didn’t even charge me for my two minutes of agony!
Today’s romp was an adventure that ended well! Ranger seemed to enjoy his time in the “quick sand” and the rest of his day was perfection!
Although we miss our Lilly every day, we want to wish her brother a Happy Birthday! Ranger is truly one of the greatest dogs around! We love you beyond measure, Big Guy, and we are so grateful to have you in our lives!
