Day 1481
Our sweet Sam is waiting for his Daddy to come home. Mr. Mac is at a Vietnam Reunion and will be home soon, but it’s hard to explain that to a pup. The other Halo members miss him too!
There are so many times in life when getting your point across is a challenge. There have been a few of those in my life that have caused heartache, while others have turned into a very hilarious situation. Take today, for example…
After a full morning of amazing “memory makers” with Asher, we headed to the pool after lunch. Another fun event was in the books. Returning home, I parked the car and waited for my grandson to emerge. The car door opened and a smiling face emerged. That is when my words failed me! Asher was holding a dollar bill that had been peeking out from under the driver’s seat. With delight in his voice he chirped, “Hey Nanny! Finders-keepers, right?” I saw what he couldn’t…clinging to the bill on my side was a mouse that had seen better days! My screams of “Drop it!” seemed to translate as “Give me my dollar!” Poor Buddy finally understood that the dollar bill came with some extra baggage! That story will certainly be entered in our Summer Journal!
There have been times when my words do not reflect what my heart is trying to share. At times, the more clarification offered, the deeper the hole is dug.
My lesson: Pause to gather my true thoughts before I react or respond…unless there is a mouse on a dollar bill! Then say whatever it takes to detach it from your grandson’s hand!!!!
