Day 1512

Our “elderly statesman” went in for a rabies shot this morning. Although a bit tense, he did so well at the age of 13. Ranger is pretty amazing! As a reward for bravery, we stopped and got him a McDonald’s cone. It was gone in a flash!

When the bill was presented at the vet's, it was under $50! Jokingly, I said I felt guilty at only paying that sum and suggested I should give more! Laughing, the tech said, “Don’t worry! We get enough of your money already!” They are all worth every penny!

There’s not much I wouldn’t do for my Golden Halo. There are those who probably think that they are only dogs…but they are so much more. They personify love. They spend their entire lives with us and never ridicule, belittle, shame or desert us. Constantly watching and staying close, their only job is to love us and they do a great job.

For me, they are family. We really don’t deserve dogs, but we can offer them love in return and learn how to be more dog-like in the devotion department. How lucky we are to have them in our lives!
