Day 1515
This guy had been through so much! After a challenging “puppyhood,” (we bought falconer gloves), we wondered if he would ever calm down. His medical records show…
*an accidental run-in with Sweet Lilly’s canine tooth resulting in blindness in the right eye.
*a sudden abdominal blockage with tests indicating a foreign object…surgery found nothing
*a total failure of his thyroid causing weight gain (20 pounds), hair loss and skin issues
…after all THAT, he has become the sweetest boy! We think he has decided he better be perfect or something else will befall him! Poor baby!
Adversity can make or break someone. No one goes unscathed in that department as we all face life’s struggles and challenges. The choices are not many…give in or fight!
Like everyone else who walks the face of this earth, my own life has had a few of those challenges. My dear husband has suggested my middle name should have been “resolute,” and he’s not wrong. When facing adversity, my technique has always been to jump through one hoop at a time. When the road ahead seems daunting, tackling the first step to “getting through” does not seem impossible. Once that one is in the rear view mirror, I take on the next hoop. Finally, there is a light at the end of the tunnel and it’s NOT a train!
Gus never looked at it that way. He would face the future because he trusted us. Jumping through the hoops was easier because we jumped through alongside him. If you know of someone who is struggling, they might just need a friendly face to accompany them through a hoop or two. As for the falconer gloves…if that’s what helps them through, you might need second thought!
