Day 1530

We love the rain! The plants, trees, rivers, birds and Goldens are absolutely thriving in the downpour! A summer rain can make almost anything come to life…it certainly enticed five Goldens to do just that!

With their mama covered by a raincoat and umbrella, all five had quite the romp. The only downside was that rain comes mud! Oh well, that’s what baths, warm towels and patience are for. The cleanup was worth the chance to see the Halo enjoy their time. Now they sleep.

There have been more than a few “cleanups” on my life’s journey so far. One comes to mind that was not an enjoyable water experience. At about midnight, an upstairs valve started leaking in the bathroom and, when I attempted to crank it shut, it worsened. Whereas before it was a rather fine mist spraying the bathroom, now it began to gush! With a house full of sleeping kids and dogs, I ran downstairs to shut the water off in the basement. It was corroded and would not budge. Running up to the first floor, there was now a bulging spot in the ceiling under the bathroom. To my horror, it started leaking and part of the ceiling and hanging lamp fell to the floor, Grabbing the phone book (that dates this episode!), I hit the Yellow Pages with a flurry! No luck! Finally, in desperation, I called my cousin, Erik, who ran over like a knight in shining armor. He assessed the situation and ran downstairs to fight the main shutoff valve. He won! My hero!

Water can be so many things…fun, destructive, beautiful, life-giving and much more. Today, as I remembered the fiasco from long ago, I simply enjoyed seeing all my pups find happiness in the rain. What’s a little wet fur and muddy paw prints?
