Why does my Golden Halo guard the house with such ferocious intent? These boys have never been hurt or attacked, yet they bark at anyone who dares to walk by the house!

Gus and Sam are the most intense! While we are trying to train the puppies to embrace a more loving greeting, that is a work in progress. Dear Ranger simply barks to joyously welcome everyone…they COULD have treats!

These days, with all of the horrendous news and happenings, it seems we are ALL more guarded. Whether it is a stranger at the door, someone in the next car in a parking lot or even emails and texts, we have all heard stories about interactions that do not end well. Even Facebook seems to have a bit of darkness here and there. So how do we maintain our security in a world that seems to have the potential to hurt you?

Well, I for one, heed the warnings to the extent of being a bit more aware of my surroundings. Other than that, my attempts to focus on the goodness everywhere around me win out every time. With that in mind, the slippery slope into reclusiveness is avoided and the sun shines a bit brighter.

As for my Goldens, they bluff people with their loud barks and jumping bodies, but they would be the first to help a “would-be” robber find “the loot!”
