Day 1540

There are those who provide comfort for loved ones who are in need. Hank adores his Ranger and can often be found snuggled up to our big guy. Ranger shares his “steady being” with all the two and four-legged at The Big White House.

A dear friend posted a thought this morning…

“Be the things you loved most about the people who are gone and in that way they live on.”

Remembering loved ones who are not here to hug anymore, I took a moment to embrace what made them so very special to my heart. Caring, giving, wise, patient and safe would describe those beautiful souls. The “safe” part is a gift that stands out for each. When I was in their presence, I knew that nothing could harm me. Ranger personifies that for the Golden Halo.

Embracing those things I loved most about the people who are gone is not always automatic. They modeled those qualities, so the examples of “walking in their footsteps” are plentiful. Living each day by those standards is my goal.

Being the “safe person” for my own circle of loved ones is high on that priority list. It is worth digging deep to remember those feelings that warmed my own heart in the past. I was so lucky to have the most wonderful models. Hopefully, they know how much they help to guide my footsteps.
