Day 1543
For our Goldens, the veterinarian’s office must be what nightmares are made of! The smells, the sounds, other dogs… Gus and Sam were not opening their paws to embrace the experience! We had them checked for allergy reactions and a Sammy ear infection. RX in hand and allergy shots delivered, we headed home with a sigh of relief and the promise of treats galore! All is now well in their worlds.
With both Mommy and Daddy there to support them, it seemed to make it all go more smoothly. The difference seemed to rest in our human hands and loving words. Touching those sweet faces and whispering soothing sounds in their soft ears allowed them to literally take a deep breath and garner some patience.
It works both ways. My sweet grandson is having four teeth pulled early next week. He will be surrounded by those he trusts and loves. And those adults are comforted by simply being close in case he needs us.
Everybody with four legs is slumbering right now and they can relax because they know their “safe people” are watching over them. What a wonderful gift to give and receive. Being the one they love and trust is a special honor indeed!
