Day 1558
With the Golden Boys fighting allergies, they spend more time watching out the window than being part of the fun. Wherever we venture, part of my heart stays at home with them. Today was no exception. Asher and I went to the local beach and I wished the Golden Halo could have been with us. They would have loved it!!!!
It was interesting to watch Asher play in the water. For a bit, I joined him, but he soon found playmates who were more energetic than Nanny. He asked one young man if he wanted to be his friend and, after the little boy nodded with enthusiasm, they were off! That is how it should be!
When does that innocent acceptance of people end? At what age do we become more suspicious and hesitant to embrace a chance meeting and why? Is it cautionary tales from our elders or negative interactions along the way? Perhaps it is a feeling of hesitation because of the world we live in. Whatever the reason, it makes me a little sad.
Now, I am not going to go up to a stranger and ask them to be my friend, but I might try to embrace my inner child and not be so wary of those around me. It can’t hurt and it just might add a little kindness to the world.
If the Golden Boys had been here, EVERYBODY would have been their new best friend! I guarantee it!!!
