Day 1582

As I work towards going through four generations of family keepsakes at The Big White House, I often find treasures . This picture of Ranger is from 2013. Looking at that sweet boy, I already see his loving, stubborn nature ready to bloom! Where did the time go?

Remembering the day we brought Lilly and Ranger home is one I will always remember with love. Much like Hank and Charlie, their bond was so strong. Missing our girl each and every day, but so grateful for our healthy, sassy thirteen-year-old “Ranger Danger!” Those years went by in a flash!

Today, I heard the saying, “The days are long, but the years are short.” Truth. Remembering back to having my four children at home while teaching elementary and college, there were days that seemed to go on forever. The vision of my head hitting the pillow late at night was often an enticement to help me through the longest days. I blinked and those days were only a memory.

The older I get, the faster life seems to fly by! Realizing this helps me to slow the pace for a moment or two so that I can relish life before it is in the rear view mirror. It is worth the effort to stop and bring the present into focus. Deeply experiencing the “here and now” brings me such joy.

Stop and smell the roses, watch loved ones thrive, and listen to your “heart people” with your total attention. Life is too short to speed all the way down its road! Slowing down to really enjoy the journey is worth it!
