Day 1596
Mr. Gus…the best boy! We went to Lincoln Elementary to read with 2nd graders. Not only did our boy calmly listen to children, but he also soothed some frayed nerves of staff members. More than one told us they needed his soft fur more than they could say! He was born to do this work.
We all enter this world with gifts that, if nourished, will blossom into what we were born to do. I have jokingly said that I will do this or that when I grow up. At my age, I think I am grown. But, am I?
My career is retired, my children have flown the nest and I find myself in a new era of learning and embracing new experiences. Therapy dogging has been such an avenue of “renewal of spirit” and direction in my life. Was I born to do this type of volunteering? Perhaps I was. Maybe everything had a led to this time on my life…lucky me!
