Day 1602

Every morning, we have a few minutes of one-on-one time with the Golden Boys. Each dog gets to explore the new nighttime “sniffs” and soak up some Mama attention. As Charlie checked out the fence line this morning, I gazed up at the huge maple tree next door. As many people know, we have had family in The Big White House and the “Little House” since 1958. Before that, my grandparents purchased our house on the corner back in the 1930’s. We haven’t moved far, rotating the two homes within the family, but why leave our “Happy Place”?

That tree holds a place in my heart. When I was five or six, my own Nanny planted the smallest sapling she had found in a flower pot. Gently extracting it, she then lovingly planted it by the fence. I can still see her in her “house dress, apron and gardening shoes as she knelt down to offer the little tree a chance.

Today, as I look at that tree, I am grateful to have countless , beautiful memories up on Christian Hill. As that little tree set down roots so long ago, I have followed. This is home…
