Our Middle Boy is 4!!!! Sweet Gus celebrated his birthday with Pup Cups for all, a trip to see his friends at Walker and extra snuggles. He even received a “paw-made” card from his Colorado girlfriend, Aubry! Lucky Dog!

Aubry’s dad and I go back just about as far as life lets us. We grew up as neighbors and probably met when we were still sporting diapers! Eventually, our journeys took us in vastly different directions, but our two Goldens stay in touch almost daily! That is a gift.

Old friends tend to evaporate as new life opportunities funnel us away from what we once knew. That is to be expected as new friends fill the void. However, there is something precious and irreplaceable about those childhood buddies. Whether they are only a memory, or still play a part in our lives, they often remain cherished.

Although those friends from our earliest years may have vanished, for the most part, those that remain are special indeed. For some reason, the heart will not set them free and they remain as gifts that are still embraced today.

Just ask Gus! He has known his Aubry for four years and he is “pawsitively” keeping her in his life…her daddy too!
