Day 1097

We have a fence that borders the backyard and keeps our pups safe. Although they are unable to jump that barrier, they CAN stick their noses through the bars to access anything within licking distance.

On the other side of that fence lives four “ground squirrels” (small dogs) and a number of chickens. When they appeared a couple months ago, we thought the Goldens needed a bit of time to acclimate to their new neighbors…we were wrong. Very wrong! I am convinced that our pack truly believes the dogs are barking squirrels and they need to eradicate them! On to Plan B!

After a trip to pick up a second fence and 100 zip ties, we went to work on the existing fence. It seems the “dachshund variety” (two of them) are tenacious enough to stick their little heads through the bottom of the fence to snap at the Goldens' paws! That does not please our little Halo in the least! Sleep has been lost over the possibility of disaster! Hence the second, mesh fence with enough zip ties to hold up a car!

Now we wait! At least the little ground squirrels can’t shove their heads through both fences…we hope!
