Day 1110
Yesterday, we spent a couple hours over at Walker Senior Living. We visit two days a week and divide our time between apartments, hallways and a gathering in the Monroe Room. Although we are there for about five hours a week, I often worry that we don’t get a chance to see everyone…we might miss someone who really needs a Golden!
As we made our rounds and hosted a gathering in a large meeting area, I tried to focus on the ones we didn’t miss. So many beautifully weathered hands touched Miss Lilly’s head and a number paused to talk about their own beloved dogs. Others shared that this was the highlight of their week while many smiles and laughter surrounded us. I realized these Goldens make a real difference.
For those we might miss, I will keep trying to figure out ways to connect. Lilly, Ranger and Gus all had a marvelous suggestion! They thought it would be lovely to spend their time in the dining room!!! Sharing meals would entertain the residents and everyone would enjoy the food!!!! When the diners left, they would offer to stick around and clean up the floor! Everybody wins!!!
