Day 1129

It’s all fun and games until someone ends up in a cone!” Coming in from the front porch, I was met by a desperate Sammy who had feathers in his mouth and hair! Totally confused by the scene, I began my search. Discovering one of my favorite pillows DESTROYED. It only took me a few seconds to burst out laughing! Oh!!!! I wish I had a video of my sweet boy in the act! When I had finished laughing and cleaning the feathers up (It literally took 20 minutes and we are still finding them!), I had time to sit with my youngest boy and pluck a few more feathers out of his fur. He looked SO guilty! I assured him that he was still adored…poor buddy!

The consensus was that there had been a big door between puppy and his Mama. It would seem that a bad case of separation anxiety had taken hold of his heart! I will take that into consideration in the future!

We have all certainly suffered from separation anxiety in our lives…I know that I have. When I was a little girl in the first grade, a classmate’s mother had tragically died while her daughter was in school. Somehow, I internalized that to mean if you leave your mom, bad things can happen to her. I suddenly became sick every day at school and had to go home. After two weeks of doctoring, they discovered my hidden fear. Evidently, they explained that my mom would be just fine if we were separated and I returned to my classroom with no need to go home with a stomach ache for the rest of the year!

Being separated from loved ones is never easy, but knowing the reason and that they are OK can save the day! Evidently, it can’t save a pillow, but that’s OK. I will just make sure Sammy has access to his mom from now on!
