Day 1185
Gus made a difference in so many lives this day! At the other end of the leash, I realized he was changing my life as well.
He started with a veteran who needed some cheerleading for a wound on his leg. Our Therapy Dog was interested and, although we did not get close, he allowed the conversation to start on proper treatment. The VA was suggested and an appointment was made. Good boy, Gus!
Next, a host of supporters were trying to figure out what one beloved resident needed to wake him up and greet the day. As we discussed options, a plan took place! Gus even stuck his paw in and got our friend to open an eye. I was gifted with a smile and l whisper that told me he loves me! Good boy, Gus!
On to a room where a former teacher brightened our day with a smile and a poetry reading about an outhouse! The poem was a delightful rendition from rhe past and Gus scored more than a few morsels as she cleaned out her refrigerator! Good Boy, Gus!
Gus loved every treat and caress. The residents were nudged to better health and received affection, and the “Leash Holder”…
…I had a first row seat to the world tipping a bit more towards kindness. I witnessed humans who were helping others, caring about others and making a positive impact on this world.
I could actually feel my heart grow a few sizes by simply seeing the beautiful side of people. My life is always changed by each and every Therapy Dog visit. I see warm hearts, amazing deeds and good people! The view from my end of the leash is beautiful indeed.
