Day 1223
There are two kinds of Pups…those who take care of their toys and those who are a bit less cautious. It would seem that The Big White House had one of each. When a dog joins our Halo, they always get their own Snuggle Puppy. (Of course, we try to get look-alikes.) I am almost “pawsitive” that most anyone who knows our Goldens could pick out which one belongs to Gus and which one to Sam in today’s picture! Gus (brown) sleeps with his “Snugs” as a pillow under his precious head while Sam (golden) has loved his literally to pieces! It has been gnawed, licked and shaken. With one ear missing, we call it Van Gogh!
There are also two types of people (with a bit of a continuum between) with one being in the Gus Camp while the other follows Sammy’s road to destruction. Humans can have different treatments for toys, clothing and any other objects in their possession. I had a high school friend who used the same paper lunch bag ALL YEAR (Ann❤️). Of course, there is no harm done except to the pocket book of the Sammy Club members.
However, there is one line I draw in the sand. When people repeatedly have little regard for the well-being and the feelings of others, I give them a wide berth. That is not to say that I won’t try to respond and model with a gentle spirit, but some individuals create a wake of destruction and never look in the rear view mirror. I am so lucky to have only crossed paths with a handful of them.
Sammy might have chewed off the ear of Van Gogh, but he would never, ever hurt someone on purpose. When all is said and done, everyone makes a mistake of the heart now and then, but their heart recognizes the destruction so they circle back to make amends. Sammy circles back more than most, but we certainly recognize the love he offers, and the look on his face is all about the heart!
I am, however, watchful of my ears!
