Day 1242

Sam has a “Happy Soul”! He wakes up with a glad heart and can be found smiling throughout the day. Rarely, do we see him sad or forlorn.

It would seem I follow in Sammy’s “paw steps”. I don’t actually look for happiness, but it surprises me countless times each day and I embrace it! I can look for gratitude, seek excitement, search for pleasure and a multitude of other emotions, but happiness seems to jump out from the least expected places and wrap its arms around me.

Today, for example, I was ‘walking with my Goldens’ when I suddenly heard the sounds of robins in the trees. Thinking they had already smartly escaped for the winter, it delighted me to hear their chirps and calls as they migrated through.

Other days, it might be dear Asher running over to jump into my arms, a message from a friend or a paw in my lap. All unexpected and all surprising me with a happy heart. The key IS that I wasn’t looking for it, but it found its way into my heart anyway!

Although I don’t pursue happiness, I acknowledge it when it finds me. I also have the added benefit of being surrounded by Goldens… they surprise my heart with happiness ALL the time!
