Day 1286

I am sitting in one of my favorite spots in The Big White House where I am surrounded by things I love… I am sitting in my Grandma Lois’s huge wingback chair that used to engulf me as a child. Now it simply embraces me as I ponder all of the beloved items around me that touch my heart.

Recently I hatched a plan to photograph all of these treasures so their history follows them through their journey. Placing them in an album, with their story attached, will be a labor of love.

Beside me, now being used as a side table, is my Aunt Beryl’s hope chest. She adored this piece of furniture so! Being such a “thing of the past,” I might need to start the story with an explanation of how it was originally used. Young people of today would probably shake their heads at the idea of storing away beautiful linens, needle crafts and heirlooms for a time when you would marry and start your life together with the gifts inside. To honor this amazing gift, that was an inherited treasure, I have placed my daughter Amanda’s baby items within to remind me of her precious beginnings.

Well, that is only one item (I will need to tell the story of the baby items as well.) and there are hundreds more! It is going to be a big book! I better get started!!!!
