Day 1333
Ranger and Gus have been hesitant to jump into the back of our SUV, and our ramp hasn’t been the solution we had hoped for. Instead of giving up, I saw this as an opportunity to explore alternative approaches. By brainstorming and researching online, I was determined to find a creative solution to make car travel a positive experience for our furry friends.
Discovering folding dog steps for cars, I immediately purchased one. Success!!! The boys “hightail it” right up those steps and Therapy Dogging can continue without duress!
Thinking back, there have been so many times when I continued with something that was not successful. Almost believing that, if I simply repeated the idea enough times, success would follow. That is a bad path to choose.
Those steps are a reminder to take a close look at a situation where something is not working. Pause and explore options. Most of the time, a lightbulb turns on and you find Plan B is successful.
Bless those doggy stairs! I am so grateful for the ease and safety of loading the boys in the car! Instead of knocking my head against the wall over and over, the next time my plans go awry, I will remember the feeling of watching Ranger dance up those steps for the first time! In the words of my amazing husband, “Plan B easily becomes the new Plan A!”
