Day 1334
It was five days ago when Gus began his medicine for an extremely underactive thyroid. We began giving him his medicine that very day and Gus is a new dog! He is happy, engaging and full of energy. We feel horrible that we didn’t figure his problem out sooner, but we rejoice to see him lively and happy again.
Health is an interesting phenomenon on many levels. We sometimes take it for granted when we are feeling well. It is only when our health fails that we pay strict attention to the signals our bodies offer. Sore throat, injued limb, headache or other malidy often stops us in our tracks. As soon as the symptoms disappear, we humans tend to forget they ever slowed us down.
Knowing health should not be taken for granted, it has become my practice to take time to be grateful for all the parts that are in working order. Instead of bemoaning the fact that my knees hurt, I sit and glory in the fact that there is no headache! Sitting quietly and taking time to be thankful for everything that is relatively healthy brightens my day.
Count your healthy blessings! Celebrate all the “parts” that ARE working and focus on that gift. Gus would agree!
