Day 1336
I marvel at the peace my Goldens display when they rest. It is amazing to see them relax on a doggy bed and begin to softly snore without a care in the world. Dogs are like that.
Humans, on the other hand, seem to be chasing that peace throughout life. When the day gets a bit overwhelming, an attempt to find that peaceful, canine aura can be a challenge. There are times when I sit myself down and try to embrace “calm”. Deep breathing, visualization, music, candles…you name it and the attempt has been made. Success is elusive…
Then it dawned on me! My Goldens are not worried about anything. Other than being separated from their humans, their concerns are few. Furthermore, they do not possess a guilty conscience or ponder regrets. Their “to-do list” is basically non-existent. They have nothing to prove and nobody to impress. No wonder they can relax with ease.
My take-away is to embrace a “Golden Zen” of sorts. Guilt is over-rated, regrets impede positive futures and “to-do lists“ will EVENTUALLY get checked off. Instead of all the gimmicks for relaxation, all you really need is to give yourself some love and compassion. Talk to that person within and tell them to not be so hard on themselves! And…it never hurts to have a Golden at your feet.
