Day 1337

The Golden Boys have a beautiful bond. It can be witnessed in their need to be together. They seem to require each other for feelings of security. Like a pack of wild dogs, they display a desire to belong. It warms my heart to see their devotion to each other.

Belonging to certain groups throughout my life has offered me a view of the need to join. However, there have been a number of these “clubs” that were not always nurturing to my heart… those groups fell by the wayside. Other groups are still alive and thriving for me!

It is important to be a member of groups now-and-then, but I maintain you should also be comfortable with a solo routine to balance out your needs. It is rather exhilarating to branch out and do your own individual “thing” to learn more about who you really are!

One example would certainly be Therapy Dogging. There is a true kinship with all handlers of these amazing animals because we have shared experiences and love to tell others. There have been times when the need to be alone with a dog visit is also warranted. Both are equally fulfilling,.

Being part of “something” bigger than ourselves seems to be a universal need for all living things. Even those who choose to be “outliers” tend to discover others on the same path and loosely band together.

Family, for me, is the ultimate “pack”. There, I can embrace the security, love and acceptance I crave. Of course, the Goldens are also members of that club…and that makes it just about perfect!
