Day 1349
We all have such a different view on life. For Gus, he only has sight in his left eye and adapts beautifully nine times out of ten. He does bump into a door frame or get startled when something suddenly appears into view, but he has really learned to live with his vision disability. Humans could take a lesson.
Along with all of the other senses, life experiences, and genetics, we all have a different view on life. Tending to forget this fact now-and-then, my own “view” sometimes sets expectations for other people’s “views”. For me, that can be a slippery slope to judgement, impatience, and misunderstanding. None of these are acceptable, but they certainly rear their ugly heads quickly.
Trying to fight that insidious urge, it takes a conscious mindset to quickly reset. Remembering that we have all had such different avenues that led us to a present situation or decision helps me to embrace acceptance much more quickly.
Gus reminds me that none of us go through this life unaffected by circumstances beyond our control. Although we may not always understand someone’s actions, we can try to make allowances for someone that walked a different path…which is probably what they are trying to do for me!!
