Happy National Golden Retriever Day!

Of course, every day at The Big White house is focused on Goldens, but today seems to be a world-wide celebration! This breed is adored far-and-wide.

Due to my Web page, ties to other golden owners and “googling galore” on the breed, my Facebook feed is full of videos, content creators, ads, pictures and anything Golden. I don’t mind that in the least. Every day, I am entertained and delighted about the antics of this amazing breed.

These beasties are not for everybody. They are big, shedding bundles of love. Boundaries are not a part of their vocabulary. Velcro has been used to describe their constant need to be touching their human(s) and their heart-melting look must be rewarded with their every desire. They are high-maintenance, but so very worthy of our attention.

For us, we bypass the issues of size and “golden glitter” because the pure devotion and adoration they offer cannot be matched.

The founder of “Asher House” (a wonderful rescue you can follow on Facebook) said it best. He has well over 100 dogs at his sanctuary. Almost every breed is represented at this beautiful oasis for rescue dogs, but he singles out Goldens calling them special…almost human.

There is a reason that a group of Goldens is called a “Halo.” They are a little piece of Heaven on earth.
