Day 1365

Our Golden Nuggets have been learning quickly. So many lessons during our first week together…and some of them come from the older members of the Halo.

Today, Gus led Hank to the front door. They looked out the door for a long moment and then the older leaned down to the younger as if sharing a secret. The pups will gain so much knowledge from their big brothers.

We all enter this world mostly as a blank slate. We do not choose where we land, or who our teachers are. Yet, we hit he ground learning from those who surround us. Some of us learn gentler lessons than others.

As we mature, we are given a “say” in those teachers who surround us. Remembering a time, as an undergraduate, when it took an accidental broken leg to shift my attention from a misdirected friendships to a loving group who shared their love and wisdom. Choosing those teachers redirected my entire life.

Remembering those who guided my journey brings a smile to my face. Family, neighbors, educators, friends and others have impacted me by modeling and sharing life lessons through my days. I have been lucky to have people, full of goodness, light my way.

Even now, I continue to learn from those people in my sphere. In addition, the seniors we meet while Therapy Dogging broaden my knowledge and deepen my heart. Their stories, insights, acceptance and inspiration continue my growth. Also, my Goldens are always stretching my horizons! Perhaps…some of the best teachers
