Day 1373

Day 1373. “Walking With Goldens”

Today, “we” decided to work in the kitchen. Cookies, brownies and homemade bread were on the list of baked goods. After borrowing a few cups of flour from my dear son-in-law (Yes, that still happens in Lake Wobegon.), we were prepared to dig in! Meandering around kennels, rearranging to access cupboards and stepping over Goldens made it a bit of a challenge, but I wouldn’t have changed a thing! This is life.

Reminiscent of days gone by, I could almost picture my own children decorating cookies and making a glorious mess. Those memories are close to my heart. Today’s shenanigans will also be lodged in my inner being. Maneuvering around that kitchen, so full of love, reminded me that some things never change.

The kitchen is the setting of so many beloved family memories…

*My Nanny and Mom canning pickles…

*Nanny handing me a spoon of cookie dough…

*My parents doing the dishes at the sink…

*Making Christmas cookies with my four…

*The smell of chocolate chip cookies…

*Generations getting their hair washed while lying on the counter with their head in the sink…

*Hellos and goodbyes at the door…

The list could go on forever. The kitchen is the heart of our family. Precious memories run rampant in that room!!! High-stepping over Goldens, we added to those today!
