Day 1377

Why are vacations so incredibly wonderful? On the front end, there is planning, packing and preparation for the Goldens while we are gone (notes, food, RX, schedules…). Of course, walking out the door and leaving those sweet faces behind is heartbreaking.

At the return end, there is exhaustion and dirty clothes. There are also Goldens waiting there…

So why do we long for those adventures? For me, it has nothing to do with escaping. I love my life yet also love adventure. The airplanes, new scenery, things to learn, “memory-making" and time with people we adore is certainly part of the lure. Perhaps the biggest draw is the chance to relax and count your blessings.

Having time away gives you a fresh perspective on your life. Sitting on a beach, hiking down a trail, learning at a historical destination or seeing new incredible views allows you to take a deep breath and rejuvenate your very being.

Here’s to travel and the wonderful feeling when you return home again. Walking back into The Big White House might just be my favorite part of the trip!
