People come and go in our lives for a reason, a season or a lifetime. This weekend, we had a family from Colorado join us for what we know is a lifetime. Initially connecting with our son Jimmy in California (through his YouTube channel), this amazing family has welcomed us into their beautiful inner circle as well. Their life is full of adventures, travel and excitement. We enjoyed our time together more than we can say!

Part of our time together was spent watching their son at a Taekwondo event. Sporting his Black Belt, he gathered so many medals we lost count. Returning to the Big White House, even our Goldens fell in love. Dogs know “good people!”

What is it about some people that draws you right in? It seems to be so a combination of charm, humor, easy communication and interest in those around them. Add a dash of caring and empathy and the collection of friends gets bigger.

Always on the prowl for ways to become a better friend, I learned so much. I believe the top qualities might just be a mix of being present and making time for others. Two ways to prove to the other person that they are worth your time.

Hank and Charlie and the Golden Boys let us know they approve! Now, who can argue with that?
