Day 1405

We are blessed with precious treasures that uplift us. Dogs, too, have their own special comforts. As we transition to having the entire Halo in our bedroom at night, we have allowed Gus the freedom to leave his kennel at will to sleep beside us. On the very first night of “freedom,” he slowly emerged and snuggled in beside me. Suddenly, he got up and returned to his kennel. After a moment, he returned with his beloved Snuggle Puppy. All was well with his world.

There are certainly more than a few items that bring solace to my soul. As a child, when we had to head to the basement during bad weather, we were allowed to grab three items. I always took my piggy bank, my dear Brownie stuffed animal and my Bible (for good measure). Perhaps my list would be a bit different today.

If I had to make a dash for the basement due to inclement weather, I would choose loved ones and my Golden Halo every time. As for my third item…sadly, my phone…after all, how would I know the weather updates or write “Walking With Goldens”?
