Day 1423
Sammy has been a little down lately, but that's all about to change. Always the "Mama's Boy," our newest additions (Charlie and Hank) have brought extra excitement and have cut into his youngest status. It has slightly shifted his "Mommy Time," so he just sits by the door with a hopeful expression, waiting for his special moment. Don't worry, Sam, it's coming!
Deciding to take him to Walker this morning, the moment the collar “snapped” around his furry neck, my Golden Boy “snapped” out of his gloom, ready for an adventure. Heading to Walker, Sammy seemed like his old self again!
Arriving, he was greeted by the wonderful staff and seemed to pull himself together into the amazing Therapy Dog he can be. We headed up to a newer resident who seems to be a bit reclusive. As soon as we had her seated, I allowed Sammy to work his charm on her. She was delighted with his attention and adoration.
Sam is our “Wild Child” and lives up to that name on a daily basis (Just ask my knee that he “blammed” into when barking at the fence!). However, he evidently can play many roles…one being that of the perfect Therapy Dog.
Expectations may be low, but our boy rose to the challenge and made our new friend so very happy. When we left, I reminded her that we would be back soon. She said she would mark it on her calendar! Sammy didn’t disappoint!
Sometimes, our expectations for someone don’t hold a candle to their own expectations for themselves. That is the best!
