Day 1427

Today was the beginning of “reclaiming the living room” at The Big White House! Setting up the puppy pen back in early February, the excitement was running high as we prepared for our new family members. Deep into April, we are now ready to dismantle and CLEAN the area! It needs it!

Although a thorough vacuuming and twice over with our carpet shampoo machine might have been predicted to do the trick, it’s going to be a longer process. That’s OK… Charlie snd Hank are so worth it!

Years and years ago, our sweet Mickey (collie) decided it was too hot in the bedroom for his taste. During the night, he “dug” down THROUGH the carpet to find the cool floor beneath. The hole was bigger than our 90 pound boy! One look and I decided the entire carpet had to go! I ripped it out myself in two days.

It didn’t hurt that the year before, our same boy had a nosebleed during the night. Going from bed-to-bed, he tried to tell someone of his plight. When I finally woke up, it looked like a crime scene! We rushed Mickey to the vet and stopped the bleeding. Following that, we called a professional cleaning company to deal with the mess. The two gentlemen who showed up told us that this was worse than anything they had seen!!!!

Ranger and Lilly stripped the linoleum right off the kitchen floor years ago. Returning after a short time, we were welcomed by shards of linoleum everywhere!!!! At least I got a new floor out of that! Perhaps our dogs are trying to tell us something?! Maybe we have bad pets waste in carpets!

At least this time, all the pieces are still present as I clean the carpet! It may take a few more shampoos, but it can be done. I would hate to call the company who cleaned up Mickey’s nosebleed! They would probably refuse to come back!!!!!!
