Day 1428
This morning I decided to tackle the dandelions in the yard. Once they appear, it’s not long before they take over. Planning to “harvest” one big bucket of them daily, I headed to the boulevard. With my garden gloves, bucket and “Grandpa’s Tool” (the best dandelion weapon on the market), I was ready to go!
My bucket was about half full when a sporty red car pulled up to the curb. The window rolled down and, to my surprise, the driver turned out to possibly be 90 or so. Predicting she would ask about the tool, I was rather surprised when she inquired whether or not I would be interested in doggy yard pickup at her house. My reply was simply, “No thank you. I have enough of my own.” With that, she shrugged, rolled up her window and departed…not to Heaven (she was pretty old), but down the road.
It suddenly occurred to me that she thought I was the grounds keeper! I started to laugh and shake my head. There were a few options to consider:
1. She thought I was picking up after my dogs instead of the dandelions!
2. I better start dressing better when I go out!
3. She thought I was WAY younger and needed the money!
My vote…#3! She thought I was capable of the job! She believed I was quite young! Again, she was comparing me to herself and most anyone would have been younger! However, I’ll take it!!!!
