Day 1435

Charlie and Hank can often be found snuggled into Ranger. They get as close as possible and fall asleep within minutes. He is their safe place. He exudes security. His calmness, lack of irritability and warmth are a few of the elements drawing them close. It doesn’t hurt that he stays put and offers very few surprises.

Our boy read with first and fourth grade students today. One child asked if he had ever bitten anyone. My reply was honest when I told them he has never had a threatening thought in his life! He truly is the perfect boy! After the books were shared and the questions answered, every child had a moment to stroke his soft fur. Perhaps 100 connections for dear Ranger and he asks for nothing.

We have all known the human version of Ranger…calm, wise, stable, loving…Simply being in close proximity calms the soul. The question arises…”How can I be that “safe person” for others?

Just watch and learn from the Master! Although some of his traits might fleetingly be mine, I have work to do. Being aware and conscious of the needs around you and trying on Ranger’s “aura” now and then might just be the winning combination.

All the Goldens are asleep at my feet, but they are needing to touch Mr. Ranger while they snooze. A couple are also touching my shoes…it gives me hope.
