Day 1492
Our morning routine includes four walks. Sam is first. He is followed by Ranger with Gus and each puppy gets their own training walk. Today as no exception. However, today’s walks connected us with so many beloved neighbors and friends. We must have encountered at least a dozen amazing people. I love our neighborhood!
When I was young, we were surrounded by friends and family as well. Feeling like I won the lottery on childhood experiences, it is wonderful to feel that warmth flow back into the houses and people who are making new memories in those old homes. Supportive, caring, sharing and present…that defines the new crew.
What makes this Nirvana? Parents (and grandparents) who care enough to put aside their own needs and wants to focus on their children. With the kids (ages 5 to 15), every home opens their doors, the adults know the children well and even step in to “parent or referee” when needed. The neighborhood supports the children in sports, music, Scouts, lessons, activities, backyard games and any other opportunity that comes along. In our neighborhood, the children come first.
Perhaps a bit biased, but I am proud of each and every one of them. They say “It takes a village” and our “villagers” are amazing!
