Day 1505
While enjoying my morning walk, I started to count the animals who seemed to “walk with me”. Of course, I can always count at least one golden retriever, but today there were a number of other companions.
First, we met the sweetest cat who was obviously out on an adventure. Recognizing her from a neighbor’s house, we shared a quick greeting and then moved on.
Next, we scooted an adorable bunny away from the road and also met three little ref squirrels looking for trouble. A variety of birds flitted in and out and even a chicken or two were part of the landscape. Other pups barked a greeting and then, the eagle caught my eye…
The majestic bird sat high in a tree and seemed to dismiss me after a cursory glance. I had stopped in my tracks and was mesmerized by its majestic presence. Simply looking out at the lake, it seemed to have no hunting intent.. but then who knows!
Finally tearing myself from the encounter, I realized what a gift it was. If I had timed the walk differently, or if I had not glanced at my surroundings at that very moment, I would have missed that awe-inspiring bird! Note to self…
“Be more aware of the beauty and surprises surrounding you! Otherwise, you could miss something that touches the heart.”
As for the eagle, I would bet it doesn’t miss ANYTHING as far as his “eagle eye” can see!
