Day 1522
“Gus Gus” went to visit at Walker today and returned home EXHAUSTED! He is such a wonderful boy and doesn’t want to leave anyone out. Consequently, he is constantly surveying his surroundings for anyone in need of some Golden Love!
Starting out in the reception area, he was greeted by many outstretched hands who simply wanted to connect…he obliged with a wagging tail.
Next, he withstood a “recorder practice” with his mama’s high school band director. Accompanied by another “Bandie” and dear friend of the family, he didn’t even shrink from the high-pitched attempts at two-part “Row, Row, Row Your Boat” as a flute player and percussionist succumbed to memories of their stressful music-making in the '70s. We even had a wonderful audience as a coach from that era visited with Gus and even applauded our attempts!
Next, on down to a Meet-and-Greet where anyone can drop in for some “Gus Time”. Wheelchairs, walkers, staff… you name it, Gus was right there!!! Never disappointing anyone who simply wanted to touch his golden head.
I simply get to sit back and be musician, host and listener. Every single person has their own story. Dogs, health issues, family updates and any other little thing on their minds is shared with us and we open our hearts to their hearts.
It was a good visit. Although Gus left so much happiness and love in his wake, we both walked out with so much more than we brought to the gatherings. Therapy Dogging is a beautiful thing.
