Soooo…if Mama doesn’t notice, I can run off with her yarn for a “Chewfest” ?????
Sometimes, guilt is written all over their furry faces! Like a mother to toddlers, “Puppy Mamas” have senses that are in over-drive!
Facial expressions are such a key to motives, inner feelings and honesty. Putting a lot of stock in accurately reading faces has guided me many times. Whether that face belongs to a dog, child or adult, much can be learned.
As an educator, my primary students were wonderfully transparent. They could tell me one thing, but their little faces told me the truth. Discussions were rich and “Show-and-Tell” was a vehicle for mass exaggeration!
One little guy sat back as we discussed having parents look through their Halloween candy before they devoured it. Talking about the safety of this practice, little hands shot up throughout the classroom. One child discovered a pin in a candy bar. Another boasted of a razor blade lurking within. Finally, the last hand was called on and this little boy walked to the front of the classroom to totally capture his audience’s attention. As his eyes darted around suspiciously, he shared…
“Last year, we went out and I got a huge bag of candy! My folks made me dump mine on the kitchen table so they could check it out. Most of it was fine, but one big one looked funny. When they unwrapped it, they found a HUGE pair of scissors inside!!! Boy! I sure am glad I didn’t eat those!”
…the classroom of eight-year-olds was was in awe!
“One Upmanship” at its finest!
Watch those faces! They will tell you the true story!
