Day 1537

Day 1537. “Walking With Goldens”

Contentment is a beautiful thing! After a whirlwind morning of breakfasts for two and four-legged loved ones, four walks (Asher was on bike, skates and scooter) and a race against the rain to get everything (and everyone) inside, we have now found peace. It looks like Goldens surrounding us, Asher in a cozy chair and “Bluey” on the television. Perfection!

We tend to chase contentment throughout life. The reoccurring hoops we jump through hinder the search, but make finding those peaceful moments more precious. Those hoops…schedules, tasks, jobs, appointments and other time-consuming “must-do hoops,” take up more of our time in different seasons of life.

When my four children were young, there were joyous, wonderful hoops. My teaching career certainly brought many hoops…most were wonderful. Advanced degree hoops were amazing “brain food,” but stressful. Helping with Asher for eight years has been sheer joy!

Therapy Dogging has always been something that feeds my soul and, outside of certification testing hoops, has been nothing but beautiful moments. To choose the path that brings contentment is a gift indeed.

Being at a point in life where I can choose to slow down and actually find myself immersed in calm and delight is a wonderful thing! Looking back, I should have carved out more moments for contentment… perhaps that is why my present awareness and gratitude for these moments with no “hoops” is so appreciated.

Well, the timer just went off! Time to tend to pups and plan my next adventure with Asher! Sometimes “hoops” are pretty amazing as well!
